Scientists

The XRisques metaprogram mobilizes a wide range of disciplines, and many different disciplines can be involved. Direct funding is reserved for INRAE scientists. Scientists from other institutes are invited to participate through collaborations.

The general aim of the XRisques metaprogram is to create an interdisciplinary scientific community and a research dynamic founded on its research themes. To achieve this, the metaprogram organizes scientific events (seminars, webinars, training courses, etc.) and issues calls for projects within the framework of various initiatives (consortia/networks, exploratory projects, emblematic projects, thesis grants).

Eligibility

  • Most metaprogram events are intended for the internal INRAE community.
  • Metaprogram funding is intended exclusively for scientists in INRAE units (UR, UE, UMR, USC, etc.), regardless of employer.
  • If you are not part of an INRAE unit, you can still participate as a partner, but you will not be eligible for any funding. Please consult the External partners/Actors in development page.

Type of initiatives funded

  • Consortia (networks). Objective: to create or consolidate new scientific communities in all areas of the metaprogram. They must involve scientists from at least 3 INRAE departments and have one or more clearly identified deliverables that contribute to the advancement of the metaprogram’s scientific priorities: incubation of an ambitious project, writing of a reference article, organization and realization of a scientific event, etc.
Maximum duration: 18 months. Maximum budget: 10,000 €. Single-phase submission on an ongoing basis.
  • Exploratory projects. Objective: To support interdisciplinary, exploratory, innovative and risk-taking research projects. Depending on the call, they may concern all or only some of the metaprogram areas, and must involve participants from at least 2 different units.
Maximum duration: 2 years. Maximum amount: 50,000 €. Submission in 2 phases: first a letter of intent, then a full proposal.
  • Emblematic projects. Objective: To co-construct with the steering committee an ambitious interdisciplinary project which must :
    • be organized in terms of the institute’s scientific community (multi-unit, multi-department, presence of academic and/or socio-economic partners)
    • strongly contribute to advancing the scientific priorities of the metaprogram
    • have an international strategy and scope
Duration: > 2 years. Maximum amount: 300,000 €. Submission in several phases in collaboration with the Steering Committee.
  • Thesis half-grants. Objective: Co-finance thesis topics that address themes covered by the metaprogram.
2 half-grants/year. Co-financing outside of the INRAE is to be found by the project lead.

Frequency of calls for projects

  • Calls for consortia, emblematic projects or exploratory projects take place every one or two years.
  • Calls for thesis grants are made every year in June for a submission in September, with the thesis starting between September and December of the following year.

Announcement of calls for projects and events

  • All calls for projects and all events for INRAE units are announced on the website.
  • These announcements are also available through an internal newsletter.
